- Tips/Hacks to create some cute penpal letters
Welcome to my Stationery Station!
Important Things to KnowFirstly, I am no expert, but this is what I know / do so far.
Secondly, I really think you should get to know someone at least a little bit before you start exchanging addresses. Even if you meet through Tik Tok or other penpaling sites, stay there a while and get a feel for the person you are about to share somewhat personal information.
If and when you start, as much as it's so nice to decorate the front of your penpal letter, remember it has to go through an automated process. To make that process easier, I would recomend to put your decorated envelope in a blank normal envelope / package. This makes it so the machine that sorts through the mail will not have issues sorting your letter. This way the address and return addres doesn't disrupt the flow of your cute decorated envelope and it helps get your letter there faster and more effeciently.
As well, it takes a quick google search to know. But each stamp pays for 1 oz of a letter, any heavier you might have to add additional stamps for each ounce.
I happen to write to a few penpals, and I feel like I am getting the hang of it. It's definitely not perfect and usually always Heisei Retro
But I think the concepts I use a lot can be applied anywhere for any aesthetic. I will add some questions and stuff I like to ask / include to get to better know my penpal. Most importantly, you should focus on having fun! There shouldn't be any preasure to be like the tik tok videos or the inspo pics on pinterest. What makes it special is YOUR touch.
And hopefully if you're into this you can tweak it yourself or just use as is. I want to use this to really like show how to PenPal and how to make your PenPal feel like you are truly interested in getting to know them and grow a friend ship. It's not just about swapping journal stuff or washi tape, because there are other progams and like people who do that but it's not quite like penpalling. I think your goal should be to make a friend. So yeah that's all I got for that so stick around!
Stationery I Love
୨ৎMidori PaperNotebooks୨ৎ
For many reasons, I like to use midori paper when I am journaling or in my penpal letters. The quality of paper is so beautiful and satisfying to write on with hardly any bleed through. On another note, the notebooks themselves are great since they lay completely flat when you have them open. That comes into majory hanidness because of needed full coverage of your pages when you are journaling or note taking. Sometimes I take pages out for my letters to my penpals and I just love it so much.
Questions to Ask Your Penpal
- What is your favorite aesthetic?
- What are some songs stuck in your head?
- Are there things you like to collect? If so what are they?
- Who are your comfort characters?
- Do you have favorite stationery brands?

Stuff I Recomend
- A Colored Printer
- A7 Envelopes, or around that size
- Colored Pencils / Markers, if you don't have a printer this is a great way to exercise your artistic skills.
- Definitley paper! Even if it's blank.
- Sticker paper, preferably the kind you can print on easily or the one you can write on.
What I use
You have to get creative, you shouldn't just drop a bunch of money specifically for stationery. It should totally be collected over time. However. I can't help myself buying stickers and washi tape from Allie Express
