Doesn't have to have jalepeno if you're not into heat, however it does help balance the flavor. However if you are really into heat but want that sweet taste, serrano peppers go amazing with this too. I didn't come up with this recipe, found it in a pioneer woman book, but I have doctored it up some.
Sweet Pepper Relish
Top on hot dogs, hoagies. Or mix in with salads. Refridgerate for 2 weeks after cooking.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Small yellow onion (diced small)
- 2 Orange bell peppers (diced small)
- 2 Jalepenos (seeded, diced small)
- 3 Fresno Chilis (seeded, diced small)
- 3 Garlic cloves, minced
- 3/4 Cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 Cup honey
- 1 Tbsp mustard seed (opt)
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over med-heat. Add onion, bell pepper, jalepno, fresno chilis, and garlic.
- Stir and cook until veggies start to soften, 4 mins.
- Add vinegar and honey.
- Sprinkle mustard seeds.
- Bring to a gentle boil, cooking and stirring until most of the liquid has reduced. 10-12 minutes.
- Let cool and funnel into a glass jar. Enjoy!
